Our vet practice
We believe that all pets deserve the right to happy and healthy lives. We believe that their owners want the same for their pets.
Midsomer Vets provide a comprehensive service in a welcoming and friendly practice to pets in Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Timsbury, Peasedown and surrounding areas.
We provide outstanding service by having a small and dedicated team of enthusiastic and professional vets and nurses supported by our reception and other team members. We continually strive to improve our existing services and provide new services, by investing in new equipment and technology.
We take advantage of our small size to ensure continuity of care, meaning you’ll be seeing the same faces each time. If you want to see the same vet next time just ask! We discuss cases between ourselves each day, so if your vet of choice isn’t availlable, the rest of the team will know and be able to continue care seamlessly.
We do not have branch practices or linked referral centres. We can call Advanced and Specialist practitioners in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, internal medicine and oncology into the practice. We also refer externally to whoever will provide the best service for your pets and discuss the benefits of each option to you
To enable the practice to thrive and retain its indepenence in the future we are proud to have become one of the founding members of the VetThing community..
If this is the care you would like your pets to receive why not join us?
At Midsomer Veterinary Centre we strive to deliver the best care for you and your pets. We are an independently run vet practice based in the heart of Midsomer Norton.
Laurence Webb joined the practice as an employee in 2000 and took ownership of Midsomer Veterinary Centre in August 2014. Veterinary medicine is continually improving and Laurence remains passionate about continuing to improve the care that pets receive.
We continuously invest in new and improved equipment, such as digital radiography, in-house laboratory diagnostic suite, ultrasonography, laser therapy and advanced anaesthetic monitoring
As a small practice we know our clients and patients well. A close relationship gives the practice a friendly family feel – Laurence has personally known many of our patients from puppies and kittens to old age!
As our practice has grown we have welcomed new vets, nurses, receptionists and support staff into our practice family. Each with their own strengths, personality and individuality that makes us stronger together.

Looking after a pet is one of the most responsible tasks that a family can set itself, and for this reason, we encourage the whole family to be involved. Children are most welcome to attend consultations with their parents and develop their understanding of how to care for their pets in the best and most responsible way.
In 2026 we were proud to be one of the first practices to be accepted into the VetThing community: a new group of practices with a common aim – to protect the diversity of independently run local practices whilst sharing from a common goal of providing the best care for our patients in the way that we have always strived for in the past.
We are proud to be local. We are proud the be independenty managed. We are proud to serve the people and pets of Midsomer Norton.,
Midsomer Vets is now part of the VetThing community
Midsomer Vets has recently joined VetThing, a group of independently run practices. This allows us to retain our individuality, with the practice continuing to be run by Laurence, but giving us the support of a community of like-minded practices.
VetThing is a unique vet-led group in the UK that is part of Vetopia, based in Denmark that is majority owned by the people who work in it
What matters most is that nothing has changed in how we care for you and your pets. The same team provides the same personalised, care that makes Midsomer Vets special. We remain independently run. Laurence still has full control over our clinical decisions, services, and pricing.
Our name, identity, and values remain exactly the same. Being part of VetThing gives us extra support and opportunities to grow while staying true to our values. It allows us to continue to invest in our team and our services and puts independent decision-making, integrity, excellent clinical care, and customer service first.
What stays the same?
Will anything change for me or my pets?
No. You will see the same familiar team, receive the same high level of care, and experience. Our name remains the same, and so do our values.
Will the team stay the same?
Yes. Our team is at the heart of Midsomer Veterinary Centre. Continuity of care is incredibly important to us, and we will always do our very best to ensure you see the people who know you and your pets best.
Are you still independent?
We have joined a vet-led group called VetThing, but we remain independently managed and locally run. We continue to make our own decisions about our team, our services, our pricing, and most importantly, how we care for your pets.
Will your standards of care change?
Not at all. We continuously strive to improve the care we offer our patients and this will not change. We continue to take full responsibility for all clinical decisions and treatments, and these are not influenced by being part of a bigger community.
Why we’ve done this
Why are you sharing this information?
We believe in being open and transparent with our clients. This is a positive step for the practice, and we wanted you to hear about it directly from us, rather than through the grapevine.
Why did you decide to partner with VetThing?
Midsomer Veterinary Centre is a unique practice, and preserving that uniqueness was central to the decision. Laurence has been running the practice since 2014 and has worked here since 2000 so its future is very dear to him.
Our partnership with VetThing allows us to protect what makes Midsomer Vets special – our clinical standards, our culture, and client focused approach — while also giving us the support and investment to continue to improve the care we give to you and your pets.
It provides us with the resources to further develop our facilities, equipment, and services over time, without compromising how we work or what we stand for.
Are you becoming like the big corporate chains?
No, traditional corporates are controlled by external investors. VetThing/Vetopia is majority owned by the vets who work within it and we keep full decision-making at practice level. VetThing’s ethos is to embrace uniqueness and support practices like ours, not change them.
How the clinic is run
What about ongoing treatment, insurance or prescriptions?
These will continue to be managed by our team at Midsomer Vets, just as they are now.
We remain fully responsible for treatment plans, medications, prescriptions, and follow-up care, ensuring complete continuity for your pets.
Will you be told what to do by a head office?
No. Maintaining this was a key part of the decision to join VetThing. We continue to run the practice in the way we believe is right for our patients and clients.
Are your prices going to change?
We continue to set our own pricing, based on what we believe is fair and sustainable. Being independently run means we decide what’s fair and sustainable for our clients and our patients
