Our vet practice

We believe that all pets deserve the right to happy and healthy lives.  We believe that their owners want the same for their pets.

Midsomer Vets provide a comprehensive service in a welcoming and friendly practice to pets in Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Timsbury, Peasedown and surrounding areas.

We provide outstanding service by having a small and dedicated team of enthusiastic and professional vets and nurses supported by our reception and other team members. We continually strive to improve our existing services and provide new services, by investing in new equipment and technology.

We take advantage of our small size to ensure continuity of care, meaning you’ll be seeing the same faces each time. If you want to see the same vet next time just ask! We discuss cases between ourselves each day, so if your vet of choice isn’t availlable, the rest of the team will know and be able to continue care seamlessly.

We do not have branch practices or linked referral centres. We can call Advanced and Specialist practitioners in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, internal medicine and oncology into the practice. We also refer externally to whoever will provide the best service for your pets and discuss the benefits of each option to you

To enable the practice to thrive and retain its indepenence in the future we are proud to have become one of the founding members of the VetThing community..

If this is the care you would like your pets to receive why not join us

At Midsomer Veterinary Centre we strive to deliver the best care for you and your pets. We are an independently run vet practice based in the heart of Midsomer Norton.

Laurence Webb joined the practice as an employee in 2000 and took ownership of Midsomer Veterinary Centre in August 2014. Veterinary medicine is continually improving and Laurence remains passionate about continuing to improve the care that pets receive.

We continuously invest in new and improved equipment, such as digital radiography, in-house laboratory diagnostic suite, ultrasonography, laser therapy and advanced anaesthetic monitoring

As a small practice we know our clients and patients well. A close relationship gives the practice a friendly family feel – Laurence has personally known many of our patients from puppies and kittens to old age!

As our practice has grown we have welcomed new vets, nurses, receptionists and support staff into our practice family. Each with their own strengths, personality and individuality that makes us stronger together.

Looking after a pet is one of the most responsible tasks that a family can set itself, and for this reason, we encourage the whole family to be involved. Children are most welcome to attend consultations with their parents and develop their understanding of how to care for their pets in the best and most responsible way.

In 2026  we were proud to be one of the first practices to be accepted into the VetThing community:  a new group of practices with a common aim – to protect the diversity of independently run local practices whilst sharing from a common goal of providing the best care for our patients in the way that we have always strived for in the past.

We are proud to be local. We are proud the be independenty managed. We are proud to serve the people and pets of Midsomer Norton.,

Midsomer Vets is now part of the VetThing community

Midsomer Vets  has recently joined VetThing, a group of independently run practices. This allows us to retain our individuality, with the practice continuing to be run by Laurence, but giving us the support of a community of like-minded practices.

VetThing is a unique vet-led group in the UK that is part of Vetopia, based in Denmark that is majority owned by the people who work in it

What matters most is that nothing has changed in how we care for you and your pets. The same team provides the same personalised, care that makes Midsomer Vets special. We remain independently run. Laurence still has full control over our clinical decisions, services, and pricing.

Our name, identity, and values remain exactly the same. Being part of VetThing gives us extra support and opportunities to grow while staying true to our values. It allows us to continue to invest in our team and our services and puts independent decision-making, integrity, excellent clinical care, and customer service first.

What stays the same?

Will anything change for me or my pets?

No. You will see the same familiar team, receive the same high level of care, and experience. Our name remains the same, and so do our values.

Will the team stay the same?

Yes. Our team is at the heart of Midsomer Veterinary Centre. Continuity of care is incredibly important to us, and we will always do our very best to ensure you see the people who know you and your pets best.

Are you still independent?

We have joined a vet-led group called VetThing, but we remain independently managed and locally run. We continue to make our own decisions about our team, our services, our pricing, and most importantly, how we care for your pets.

Will your standards of care change?

Not at all. We continuously strive to improve the care we offer our patients and this will not change. We continue to take full responsibility for all clinical decisions and  treatments, and these are not influenced by being part of a bigger community.

Why we’ve done this

Why are you sharing this information?

We believe in being open and transparent with our clients. This is a positive step for the practice, and we wanted you to hear about it directly from us, rather than through the grapevine.

Why did you decide to partner with VetThing?

Midsomer Veterinary Centre is a unique practice, and preserving that uniqueness was central to the decision. Laurence has been running the practice since 2014 and has worked here since 2000 so its future is very dear to him.

Our partnership with VetThing allows us to protect what makes Midsomer Vets special – our clinical standards, our culture, and client focused approach — while also giving us the support and investment to continue to improve the care we give to you and your pets.

It provides us with the resources to further develop our facilities, equipment, and services over time, without compromising how we work or what we stand for.

Are you becoming like the big corporate chains?

No, traditional corporates are controlled by external investors. VetThing/Vetopia is majority owned by the vets who work within it and we keep full decision-making at practice level. VetThing’s ethos is to embrace uniqueness and support practices like ours, not change them.

 How the clinic is run

What about ongoing treatment, insurance or prescriptions?

These will continue to be managed by our team at Midsomer Vets, just as they are now.

We remain fully responsible for treatment plans, medications, prescriptions, and follow-up care, ensuring complete continuity for your pets.

Will you be told what to do by a head office?

No. Maintaining this was a key part of the decision to join VetThing. We continue to run the practice in the way we believe is right for our patients and clients.

Are your prices going to change?

We continue to set our own pricing, based on what we believe is fair and sustainable. Being independently run means we decide what’s fair and sustainable for our clients and our patients

We have recently took our senior dog to have some of his teeth removed and cleaned.....I was extremely nervous as I have a very nervous boy and he has really bad separation anxiety. All I can say was the whole team were amazing from start to finish and unlike alot of vet I felt heard and understood on what my boy would need and how nervous we both were, but wow I shouldn't have been nervous at all. From the moment my boy entered the vets his treatment was handled with extremely care and compassion, he was not scared or nervous at one point and neither was I. Elisha did an absolutely amazing job on my boys teeth and fully understood his needs from start to finish and chloe for the amazing post operation aftercare making sure my boy woke up very calm and not stressed at all. Also my dog come around amazingly and within hours was eating and moving around like he had just been for a long peaceful sleep and within 24 hours was walking around like nothing had happened. I highly recommend this vets for dogs that might be nervous or have extreme anxiety. 5 stars treatment and care at a very reasonable price.
Response from the owner:Thank you Shellie

Very happy that I changed to this vet. So refreshing to have a vet that cares about the pet and not just profit! Prices are fair and reasonable and alternatives are offered where money is an issue, not to mention the treatment and care my dogs have received has been excellent.
Response from the owner:Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate your kind words.

This practice is amazing. I have been with them for over 10yrs and they have shown complete compassion, professionalism and support to all my pets. We have had some challenging times over the years with our animals but what I appreciate is the honesty and respect that the vets have for not only me but my furry companions. Laurence has been amazing, especially with my dog however his new vets are just as fabulous as him. I could not recommend this vets enough, especially because I get continuity and personal interaction. Something that I personally don’t get from my own doctor. I can strongly recommend this vets.

I’m sorry you are getting bad reviews from the community for something out of your control. If they only knew the amount of animals that always need help… and to shame us for not being able to help? Shame on them as “good samaritans” for not offering to pay the bill. Someone has to be financially responsible. When your car breaks down, we don’t expect the maniac shop to do labor and parts at no cost just because the car means something to someone. It’s called LIFE. Same goes for human care… someone always is responsible. #NOMV

This a wonderful, small, friendly independent vet practice where I've been taking my dogs for over 10 years. It's so important to preserve and support independent vets. And very reassuring to know the advice I'm getting is unbiased and the vets are not being influenced by large insurance and drug companies. This helps me know my dogs really are getting the best treatment they can get.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for your kind review. Its been a pleasure to care for Cara and Zago over the years.

Recently moved to Midsomer Norton so had to find a new vets practice, I cannot stress enough how amazing Midsomer vetinary centre has been. My labrador Mylo, suffered from a twisted stomach which he has luckily recovered from. He had to undergo surgery which Laurence had organised. Midsomer vets have been outstanding with his recovery process. All the staff seem so genuine and honest and I cannot fault them. Thank you so much MVC.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. Mylo was an absolute pleasure to treat and such a beautiful boy. Thank you for choosing Midsomer Veterinary Centre.

Huge thanks to Midsomer vets. My cat Cleo has had problems for years with her thyroid levels and medication. I moved to Midsomer vets recently and with the kind assistance and understanding with their vet, Tim, Cleo’s thyroid is now stable, for the first time ever and she has no other problems. A fantastic practice. The staff are very helpful and friendly. And the results speak for themselves.
