Microchipping

Microchipping is a simple and effective way of permanently identifying your dog that dramatically increase the chances of them quickly coming home to you should they go missing or be involved in an accident.  We recommend it for all pets to reduce losses due to straying and theft. This simple procedure can be preformed here at any time in your pet's life and also comes as part of our kitten and puppy starter pack.

Microchipping will be compulsary for all dogs after 6 April 2016 and could be punishable by a £500 fine.

Neutering

If you do not intend to breed from them we recommend neutering your dog.  Neutering females is especially beneficial as it can greatly reduce the risk of them suffering from mammary tumours (breast cancer) and remove the risk of pyometra, a life-threatening womb infection that occurs frequently in older bitches and can require risky emergency surgery.  Neutering males can also bring health benefits, however there are circumstances where it may not be beneficial, and we are always happy to discuss whether neutering is right for your pet.  If you wish to book your dog in for neutering, or would like to come in and talk to us about it, please call us on 01761 412132.
